iPhones normally allow apps only from the App Store, which limits what users can install. trollstore is a tool that lets users sideload apps on compatible iPhones, giving more control over what runs on the device.
What Is TrollStore?
TrollStore is an app installer for iOS that uses a system feature to install apps outside the App Store, without needing a jailbreak on supported versions. Once installed, it can install other apps as system apps, which stay installed without the usual 7-day signing limit.
It is aimed at iPhone users who want tweaks, emulators, or utilities that are not available in the App Store, and who understand the risks of sideloading.
Why Sideloading Appeals to Some Users
The App Store has rules that keep some useful apps out, such as game emulators, system utilities, and custom tools. Sideloading gives users a way to run those apps on their own device.
It also gives developers a way to test apps without going through App Store review, though it comes with extra responsibility for safety.
Key Features for iPhone Users
- No jailbreak needed: Works on supported iOS versions without a full jailbreak.
- Persistent installs: Apps installed through it do not expire after 7 days like regular sideloaded apps.
- App variety: Install tweaks, emulators, and utilities not found in the App Store.
- Simple workflow: Install the tool once, then install apps from files.
- Control: Users choose exactly which apps to install and keep.
Getting Started
- Check that the iPhone’s iOS version is supported by the current TrollStore release.
- Follow the official installation guide for that version, and back up the device first.
- Install TrollStore, then use it to install apps from trusted sources only.
- After installing an app, check that it opens and works as expected before adding more.
- Keep a note of which apps were sideloaded, so they can be removed cleanly later.
Only install apps from sources that are trusted and well known; sideloaded apps can access device data, so the source matters more than with App Store apps.
Practical Tips
If an app fails to install, check the iOS version and the app file first; mismatched versions are the most common cause. If the device behaves oddly after an install, remove the most recent app and test again.
Before any major iOS update, check whether TrollStore still works on the new version, since updates can break sideloading tools.
Final Thoughts
TrollStore is useful because it gives iPhone users more choice over the apps on their device, without a full jailbreak. For users on supported versions who understand the risks, it is a simple way to sideload apps they cannot get from the App Store.
